About Mera.ki

Our mission is to use our special powers for good.

Like the Avengers. Only, in real life. And without capes (for the most part).

The creative community at Mera.Ki creates art for charity to help those less fortunate than us. That's our whole jam.

Australians are more likely to take their own lives than die from skin cancer and, on any given night, 116,000 people are homeless on our streets. Mera.ki is a community of artists, suppliers, distributors and passionate individuals who want to be part of the solution. Our community donates their time, resources and talents to the creation and distribution of artwork which funds our support of mental health and homelessness initiatives.

20% of Australians aged 16-85 experience mental illness in any given year and almost half of all Australians will experience mental illness in their lifetime. At least six Australians take their own lives each day and a further thirty will attempt to do the same. We want to open up the conversation and remove the stigma attached to 'not being okay'.

Because as R.E.M. famously said/sang, "Everybody hurts sometimes".

There you go - now that song is stuck in your head. You're welcome.

Mera.ki supports organisations and businesses such as The Chair and Down Not Out which create safe spaces, free from judgement and critique for people struggling with mental health. Mental Health is an integral part of wellbeing and an area which we should all be striving to improve; in ourselves and others.

Our Mission
Homelessness

Homelessness

Over 15,800 children under the age of 12 are homeless and more than 18,000 are over 55. These people are among are our most vulnerable and are often forced into homelessness through no fault of their own. In addition to supporting shelters and support centres,

Mera.ki has a street outreach initiative which aims to procure supplies requested by individuals. In some cases, a person might have access to sporadic meals and temporary shelter but crave human interaction and mental stimulation whilst others are in desperate need of basic first aid. Mera.ki improves the quality of life of the homeless community and supports efforts for long term change. We don't pretend to be able to change the world overnight, but we can help restore some respect and dignity to people in less than fortunate circumstances. Like tiny, Australian Aretha Franklins. RESPECT.
